Here is a list of the best farms and markets in the Nanaimo area:


  1. Yellow Point Cranberries:
    Found at 4532 Yellow Point Road, this Cranberry farm offers fresh fruit, jams, jellies, chutney, and salsa, all homemade. They also have treats such as cranberry lemon liqueur! This farm is also open for tours year-round from Wednesday to Saturday, so be sure to bring a friend or family member to have a look and stock up on some fresh cranberries and jarred goods.  
  2. Blue Harvest Farm:
    From early July to mid-August you can get nine different varieties of blueberries at Blue Harvest Farm! Located at 13387 Code Road, off Cedar Road near the Nanaimo Airport, this farm offers fresh or frozen organic blueberries for your convenience. Note that the owners recommend pre-ordering your berries as they are very popular with Nanaimo residents!
  3. Hazelwood Herb Farm:
    Check out Hazelwood Herb Farm at 13576 Adshead Road. This farm offers over 400 varieties of herbs from April to September. Not only can you purchase herbs here, but they also have an array of homemade jellies, mustards, vinegars, herbal remedies and skin care products in their small gift shop on site.  
  4. Nanaimo Downtown Farmer’s Market:
    From early May until Canadian Thanksgiving, the Nanaimo Downtown Farmer’s Market runs every Friday from 10am until 2pm on the Pioneer Waterfront Plaza on Front Street. This is Nanaimo’s largest farmer’s market with over 50 vendors selling fruits, vegetables, baked goods, homemade crafts, and a whole variety of other items such as fresh pasta, goat’s milk, and handmade purses!  
  5. Nanaimo North Farmer’s Market:
    The Nanaimo North Farmer’s Market is located at the Nanaimo North Town Centre. This market runs every Saturday from 10am until 2pm during the summer season. Nanaimo North residents and visitors can pick up their fresh produce and favourite homemade treats here.
  6. Cedar Farmer’s Market:
    In a grassy field near the Crow & Gate Pub on Yellow Point Road you will find the Cedar Farmer’s Market. Running from 10am until 2pm every Sunday from May until Thanksgiving, this market features famous baked goods by the Cedar Women’s Institute alongside fresh foods and non-food items.
